Thomas Buley and Prince nee Bradgate (parents of Francis Buley)
Thomas Buley and Prince Bradgate
Thomas was born in 1691 Brenchley to Stephen Buley and Mary née Simmonds. He married Prince in Aylesford Kent in 1718. Thomas was a listed Brenchley freeholder, eligible to vote in 1734 as was another Thomas in the same place. The baptism of Prince has not yet been found. Thanks to exhaustive tracking of wills and property documents however I final that she was the daughter of Edward Bradgate of London and Sarah née Cayley. Prince's unusual first name is not unprecedented in English use though it is rare and almost always male. I had thought that the most likely explanation for it was that it was her mother's maiden name but obviously not! Despite it's strangeness Prince presumably did not find it a source of too much annoyance as she named a daughter Prince and her husband's brother was also willing to use the name for one of his own daughters in her honour. Prince died in Brenchley in 1772, and left a will but I have not yet got a copy of it. Prince is called kinswoman in the will written in 1757 of Elizabeth Cayley spinster of Tonbridge. Elizabeth was Prince's aunt. This Elizabeth asked to be buried in Brenchley. She left property to the children of Prince and Thomas -their daughter Prince married to Ambrose Dinton (£4 annuity), their daughter Sarah wife of John White (£5 annuity), their daughter Elizabeth wife of Richard Martin (£5 annuity), their daughter Rebecca wife of Thomas Driver (£5 annuity). All these annuities coming out of rent got from Great Cowlands farm and woodland in Whatlington Sussex. The property itself went to their son John Buley. Tenant was John Guy. John Buley was to pay £100 jointly to any living children of Rebecca Driver. Elizabeth Cayley also had property called B....potts which had 7 acres attached to it in Brenchley the income from which was to be used to pay a £5 annuity to Ann Buley an unmarried daughter of Thomas and Prince and a £4 annuity to Elizabeth's sister Mary Pitts. This property was in the occupation of Francis Buley. Additionally Elizabeth had a half part of a message and three parcels of land in Brenchley and Lamberhurst in the occupation of John Godden which was also to be used towards paying those last two legacies. The Brenchley and Lamberhurst property was to be inherited by our ancestor Francis, son of Thomas and Prince. To Prince herself went all Elizabeth's linen and wearing apparel plus a messuage and land in "Brenchley or Pembury" Kent (sounds like on boundary of the two) in occupation of Robert Yates (or possibly Yales). Prince was to pay from the income of that £100 to be divided between the children of Sarah White and Prince Dinton, £50 between the children of Elizabeth Martin and £100 between the (future) children of Ann Buley. A message with land orchards, outhouse etc in Tunbridge Wells to John Buley and Thomas Buley in trust with them to pay the profits of them to the bringing up of the children of Prince Dinton and Sarah White. After the two women died the property was to be conveyed jointly to those children. Testator also mentioned a brother William Neale deceased who had a daughter Sarah and an Ann Monckton daughter of Susanna Monckton deceased who was also a daughter of Prince and Thomas Buley. Thomas Buley was the will's executor and received the remainder of Elizabeth's goods, chattels and money. A maidservant was one of the will's witnesses. The will was proved 1760.

James Hubbard and Elizabeth née Beane ( parents of James Hubbard)
This couple married at Gillingham Kent in 1705. James was either born in 1676 Gillingham Kent to Nicholas Hubbard and Ursula née Lott or in 1686 Mereworth Kent to Alice who was Nicholas and Ursulas's daughter so as you can see either way round we descend directly from Nicholas and Ursula.
Elizabeth Beane was baptised at Lynsted Kent in 1681 to William Beane and Mary née Munnes
Thomas Rolphe and Mary (parents of Elizabeth Rolphe)
This couple's name can also be rendered as Relphe, Rolf, Relfe etc. They settled in Fletching Sussex. Thomas was born in Buxted Sussex [Familysearch England Baptisms by the LDS] in 1655 to William Rolphe and Elizabeth née Parker.
William Britt and Bridget formerly Denman (parents of Mary Britt).
This couple married in Ashurst Sussex in 1710 by License. William provided the financial sureties for the marriage along with John Horley of Ashurst. The baptism of the bride cannot be found. Bridget was possibly in fact the widow Bridget Denman née Horley rather than a spinster.
William Britt was born in Horsham Sussex in 1684 to William Britt and Elizabeth.[Source Familysearch England Marriages by the LDS]
Joseph Silsby and Sarah Tiltman (parents of Joseph Silsby).
Joseph was born in Shermanbury in 1671 to William Silsby / Selby and Elizabeth. His parents died within a week of each other when Joseph was 8 years old. It isn't known who cared for him after that but his older brother William was an adult and apparently married by then so could probably step in. Sarah Tiltman was born in 1671 Cuckfield Sussex to Thomas Tiltman and Frances. Joseph and Sarah lived initially in Cuckfield. A local diarist recorded that Joseph with three others helped cut down the "wallet oak" there.
John Britter and Mary nee Lamb (parents of William Britter).

Edward Fuller (parents of Ann Fuller)
Edward was a husbandman (small scale farmer) in Hever Kent who owned lands bordering on Westerham and under the control of Westerham manor. He was born in Hever in 1674 to Edward Fuller. He served as a Constable of Westerham Manor but was fined more than once for failing as an ordinary Manor subject to do his duty and appear at the Manor Court. Why did they think he would make a good constable??
Richard Rye and Anne Baker (parents of John Rye)
This couple married in Withyham in 1728. Richard was baptised at Withyham in 1705 to Henry Rye and Grace née Harris.
Anne was baptised at Withyham in 1701 to John Baker and Anne.

James Taylor and Martha Fryland
This couple married in 1718. Both were born in Aylesford.
James was in 1686 and was the son of Augustine Taylor and Mary née Tomlyn. Martha was born in 1697 and was the daughter of Richard Fryland and Martha née Flower.
Thomas Mashman / Marshman and Mary Smith (parents of Anne Mashman)
Thomas was a fisherman, presumably on the River Test. When he married Mary in 1744 at Upper Clatford Hampshire he was said to be from nearby Wherwell. Wherwell area records lack both a baptism for him and any mention of others of his last name other than his wife and children suggesting that he had had come there from elsewhere. He died in 1762 in Upper Clatford.
Mary Smith was described as of upper Clatford at marriage. She probably died there in 1772. There are a lot of Smiths about in the area and I can't narrow down her parentage because of that.
